Danville Area Little League

General Meeting – February 2019


·        Meeting called to order at 7:00 pm

·        Attendance: Quorum met –

·        Board members in attendance:  Todd Gibson, Bob Krainak, Brandon Koser, Craig Welliver, Randy Fry, James Ulrich, Matt Hickey, Scott Shultz.

o   Board members absent from the meeting included Rhett Merchant, Mason Fausnaught, Tom Ciccarelli, and Josh Kelchner.  Dave Ross has resigned prior to the meeting.

Financial Report – League treasurer could not attend.  Todd Gibson reviewed account balances totaling $28,854.79.

o   Challenger division account expected to pay for the annual jamboree in Virginia with the

o   largest sum paying for hotel accommodations for all participants. 

Old Business:

·        Quaker Steak and Lube Promotion to be held the final two Thursdays of March (March 21 and March 28).  Promotion vouchers were printed and placed at the sign-in table.  Quaker Steak and Lube in Bloomsburg will donate 20% of the food purchases on March 21 and March 28 as long as the patron presents the Danville Area Little League promotion voucher. 

·        Dicks Sporting Goods will have a Little League appreciation weekend on March 9-10 at the Selinsgrove store for any families involved in Danville Area Little League.  Flyers were emailed to families, printed out at the meeting, and placed on facebook.  They will be sent out again as we get closer to the event.  Last year families were granted the 20% off online as well when placed at the service counter near the hunting/fishing section of the store.

·        Attendees were reminded that April 6 is a key date of the upcoming season.  On April 6 the league will hold its annual spring cleanup day, collect donations of Gatorade and water at each complex, and collect the purchased cash raffle ticket stubs. 

·        Opening Day of Danville Area Little League will be held on Saturday May 4.  Games in all divisions will begin prior to that time, however, due to the Easter holiday and NCSA tournament the ceremonies will be held on that date.

·        Equipment needs for each team must be communicated to the division commissioners.  The league has sponsorship money for Dicks Sporting Goods for such items.

o   Challenger division will need a few Senior Division bats this season.


New Business:

·        Board member Dave Ross has resigned from the Board of Directors.  The active Board will discuss and take action to fill the position immediately in accordance to the league Constitution.

·        The league is currently seeking volunteers to oversee the Senior Division and Softball Division concession stands.  These volunteers will work closely with Alicia Santore to manage the operations of those stands.

·        The new bylaw was read to all in attendance regarding meeting requirements for all star participation.  If a manager or coach attends less then 70% of the scheduled general meetings, they will be reviewed by the Board of Directors prior to be granted permission to vote, coach, or manage an all star team.

·        April 27-28, 2019 Danville will host the NCSA college club softball regionals.  Eight teams from the North Atlantic and New England Regions will attend.  Teams will arrive to Danville hotels on Friday evening and depart following the tournament on Sunday.  The league works closely with the hotels, commissioners, MARC, CMVB, borough, and umpires to make the tournament easy for the directors.  The league is expected to receive a grant from the county hotel tax tourism fund to support the event.  Volunteers will be needed all weekend to prepare and run the tournament.

·        Division Breakout – coaches in attendance to meet with commissioners.  All divisions represented.

·        Meeting Adjourned at 7:30pm
